THEY SAY "actions speak louder than words" and that's certainly been true for me lately. While I've been remiss in blogging my daily activity, the walking routine has continued and another hundred miles have passed beneath my feet. I could blame the distraction of the national political conventions held here where l'm walking, but in truth my real vacations have preempted my writing about virtual traveling...
During the past weeks I've virtually crossed the Ohio border (goodby republicans) into Pennsylvania (hello democrats) and passed near Pittsburgh, the Steel City. I was struck by the many steel bridges connecting the downtown with its surrounding suburbs.
My northerly route through Pennsylvania along the Christopher Columbus Highway has taken me from flat farmlands into rolling hills and river valleys of the Allegheny region. It's been quite a change of scenery with extensive reaches of forests and isolated little burgs.
