BEAUTIFUL WEATHER welcomes us outdoors to seek adventure and explore our natural world. We try to teach our kids that those who are observant and patient enough will reap the rewards of discovery.
Watch carefully that ripple on the water's surface and you might discover the fish slowly swimming just beneath looking for food or a place to deposit eggs in the muddy creek bottom.
Pause on your way to scan the meadow grass and you might catch a fleeting glance of jackrabbits scurrying in the brush. Just follow those long ears!
Look closely along the edge of a meadow where dark shadows meet the sunlight, and you might catch sight of a wild turkey foraging for food just beyond the safety of the brushy thicket.
Or if you are alert to the signs in your surroundings, you can join and participate in nature's world of critters engaged in a game of hide and seek.
Who knows? Peer long enough into the shadows and you could find someone -- or something -- peering back at you. The world is full of surprises, so don't miss out on the fun!
