EXCEPT FOR AQUATIC SPECIES, a list of Hawaiian wildlife animals is relatively short. Wild donkeys, wild boar, mongoose, and cats are the only critters we heard about... So my photographic interest was confined to native reptiles and birds we encountered during our travels. The common theme appears to emphasize their vivid colors.
However, Hawaii has no native species of land reptiles and amphibians, so everything we found here were brought over by travelers. However, there were many native marine reptiles (sea turtles and sea snakes), crabs and fishes (dolphins and whales) in the surrounding waters.
