Today I learned that a good friend, Steve Dinger, has passed away --succumbing to an extended struggle with cancer.  He was the Tivoli's skipper who graciously invited my brother Cliff and me to crew for him on a wonderful voyage across the Mediterranian from Greece to Spain.  Captain Steve was an adventurous soul with a lust for life who became a generous friend, a patient mentor, and inspirational spirit.  I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to know him and share in his life's adventure.  May he rest in peace...

No more Watch to stand, Old Salt.
For you're drifting on an ebbing tide.
Eight Bells has rung. Dog Watch is done.
A new Berth awaits on the other side.

Your Ship is anchored in God's Harbour.
And though his sailors are of equal rank.
there'll be Shipmates on the deck to greet you.
And Pipe, as you ascend the Plank.

Her engines with a full head of steam.
Cargo stowed and Galley stored.
Just waiting to get underway.
When the last Hand comes aboard...
