THE LAST BLOOMERS of this season are sparse but lovely.  They're sprinkled along our garden path, courageously bidding farewell to 2013 before the frost settles in. What the plants lacked in abundance of blossoms, they made up with persistent color - a rich spectrum of primary hues from the yellow rose and red penstemon, to the pink bergenia and blue hydrangea.  (And, yes, those colors are accurate!)

What an awesome reward for our diligent care and the rich garden soil.
